One year ago this month, Birds Connect Seattle opened the doors to our new home in the heart of downtown Seattle. In the year since, our new “nest” has become a hub for connection, hosting open houses, launching weekly Lunch and Learns, welcoming curious passersby, and settling into the energy of the Denny Triangle neighborhood.
While we still carry deep gratitude for our years in Wedgwood and the community we built there, our move downtown has opened new opportunities to connect with more people than ever before. From birding and conservation to education and community, this new chapter has helped us share our mission with a wider world, and we’re just getting started.
Watching our space transform from an empty nest into the warm, welcoming hub it is today has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. From our signature mural by artist Tori Shao to the bright front windows that fill the space with light, every detail has helped shape a place designed for gathering, learning, and building community.
What began as a blank canvas has grown into a vibrant home for connection, reflecting both the spirit of Birds Connect Seattle and the neighborhood we now call home.

With more room to spread our wings, our downtown space has allowed us to expand the ways we connect with our community. From Author Talks and monthly Social Hours to a rotating mini-museum and our member library, this new home has created space for fresh ideas, deeper conversations, and new ways to engage with birds, nature, and conservation.
Over the past year, these programs have become an important part of what makes this space special, inviting people to learn, create, and discover the many ways to connect with the natural world and with each other.

As we celebrate one year in our downtown home, we’re filled with gratitude for everyone who has stepped through our doors, shared in our programs, and helped shape this space into what it is today. What began as a new chapter has quickly grown into a thriving place for connection, learning, and community.
Looking ahead, we’re excited for all that this space will continue to make possible, from new programs and partnerships to deeper connections with the people and wildlife that make Seattle so special.
This first year has been just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds as we continue to grow together in our new nest.
