The Board of Directors seeks new members

If you are someone with interest in nonprofit management, please consider joining our board in support of Seattle Audubon’s mission to advocate and organize for cities where people and birds thrive. Our Board of Directors plays a vital role in ensuring Seattle Audubon has the strategic direction and necessary resources to create a sustainable community. 

We are currently recruiting for board positions, and individuals with experience in human resources, law, and real estate are highly desirable.

Here are some examples of how your specific skills could benefit both staff and board members and can help shape the future of our organization:

 

Human Resources:

    • Periodic review of employee and board handbooks
    • Annual review of staff salaries and benefits
    • Strategy for staff recruiting and retention efforts
    • Service on our Personnel Committee

Law:

    • Service on our Martin Miller Committee to select grant recipients
    • Annual review of organizational Bylaws
    • Understand and provide guidance on organization’s Articles of Incorporation
    • Provide guidance as Seattle Audubon undergoes its name change
    • Provide guidance on property transactions and bequest stipulations

Real Estate:

    • Service on our Martin Miller Committee to select grant recipients
    • Provide guidance on Seattle Audubon’s properties, which includes the main office building in Wedgwood, as well as multiple land parcels
    • Service on our Facilities Committee
    • Experience with land transaction with conservation value, or conservation easements would be highly desirable
